anti-suicide suicide music
The titular essay in this book is profoundly great writing. You can see, smell, and hear the world he writes. It’s effortless, and compelling. The majority of the other essays in this book are very high standard too. The critical theory one bored me a bit. Tennis and math however go hand in hand for a fantastic ride. Absolutely worth reading
Very infectious, nostalgic music.. Doesn’t have as much staying power as some of the others on the track. Regardless a great listen.

To be fair, this is a kids movie from over five decades ago. A lot of the art and sets and props are cool, and I imagine it would have been fun to produce. Other than that, the actin feels fresh out of a primary school theatre show, the editing is bizarre and choppy. The writing and jokes are only sort of funny, to laugh at rather than with. The movie drags constantly despite it’s shorter runtime, and has very loose form or structure or narrative. Only worth watching masochistcall...Read more

A genuinely horrifying horror film. The practical effects are flawless and grotesque. The plot is tragic and uncomfortable. The gore and body horror is all well-timed. Often induced involuntary gasps. Great performances, tight script. Little to no fluff which feels rare for the genre. Perhaps the best horror movie I’ve seen.

A decent western, peppered with moments that land between spoof and homage. Strong acting, lukewarm writing. A cringeworthy self-insert by Tarantino, as to be expected I suppose. Maybe I don’t know enough about the genre, but the climax was brushed over in favour of a happy ending epilogue, which lacked the heat it thought it had. An interesting movie, very front-loaded. Ultimately all flare over substance.

Extremely compelling characters and fantastic visual storytelling. Every word has purpose. Brutal at times to strong effect. Crafted acting. The editing was modern but felt intesnely theatrical and grounded in traditional technique. Same for the score. Hard to find any faults. The 2.5 hour run time flies by.

This film taught me more about wine than any winery ever has. Two men go Gatsby on a getaway, one writer and one womanizer. Engaging, emotional and audacious, they find love and lust. A must watch for any young man, old man, failing artist or crippled romantic.
